Overview

The Basic Leader Course (BLC) is a branch-immaterial course that provides an opportunity for Soldiers to acquire the leader skills, knowledge, and experience needed to lead team-level units. BLC prepares the specialist/corporal for duties and responsibilities as a sergeant.

The course is facilitated using the Army Experiential Learning Model (ELM) in small collaborative groups and is a 22-academic day course consisting of 169 academic hours.
