Overview

The Advanced Operations Course (AOC) is the credentialing portion of Intermediate Level Education (ILE) that follows completion of the ILE Common Core (CC). AOC prepares field grade officers to serve effectively on general staffs and to lead organizations in complex operational environments.

The course focuses on operational art, mission command, and the planning and execution of operations in joint, interagency, intergovernmental, and multinational contexts.

  • Staff processes and staff integration at battalion and brigade levels
  • Operational planning and decision-making in complex environments
  • Mission command approach and leadership in multidomain operations
  • Joint and multinational operational context
  • Applied exercises supporting operational art
  • Leading organizations and teams under uncertainty
  • Integration of JIIM partners into planning and execution
  • Preparation for general staff responsibilities

Eligibility
