Overview

The ten-month resident Command and General Staff Officer Course (CGSOC) develops highly competent field grade officers prepared to serve as general staff officers and leaders in contested environments. Instruction is taught at the graduate level and is organized into three major phases: Common Core (CC), Advanced Operations Course (AOC), and an Electives Phase.

CGSOC emphasizes warfighting, military history, leadership, and decision-making to enable effective planning and execution in joint, interagency, intergovernmental, and multinational contexts.
