The ten-month resident Command and General Staff Officer Course (CGSOC) develops highly competent field grade officers prepared to serve as general staff officers and leaders in contested environments. CGSOC emphasizes warfighting, military history, leadership, and decision-making to enable effective planning and execution in joint, interagency, intergovernmental, and multinational contexts.
Enrollment, eligibility, and scheduling are managed through Army training systems and official CGSS channels. Refer to unit training channels and ATRRS for the authoritative requirements for attendance.
Prerequisites are controlled by ATRRS and official program guidance (component, branch, and selection requirements vary).
Use ATRRS for enrollment procedures. For high-level resident program descriptions and academic degree options, reference CGSS/CGSC official pages.
