Overview
The Intermediate Course prepares current and aspiring Army Civilian leaders (GS 10–12) to become more innovative, self-aware, and prepared to effectively lead and care for personnel and manage assigned resources at the organizational level.
The course is required per AR 350-1 for Army Civilian supervisors in those grades.
Subjects Covered
- ✓Develop personal character, presence and intellect.
- ✓Prepare to move from leading teams to leading organizations.
- ✓Create and support a Mission Command environment of leading, developing, and achieving.
- ✓Develop a Civilian Corps whose members exemplify the Army Values.
Eligibility
- ✓Army Civilians in permanent appointments in grades GS–10 through GS–12 (or equivalent).
- ✓Army Non-appropriated Fund (NAF), Wage Grade (WG), Local National (LN).
Prerequisites
- ✓Foundation Course (required only for individuals hired after September 30, 2006).
Additional Information
- ✓Effective October 1, 2024: new GS 10–12 supervisors may be identified for automatic enrollment; supervisors have two years to enroll/complete in a preferred modality, with automatic enrollment in year three if not completed.
- ✓Army Civilians must have a current performance rating of successful or above and be in good conduct standing.
- ✓CES courses are centrally funded for most Department of the Army Civilians; see AR 350-1 for specific requirements and eligibility.
- ✓Courses are open to DoD employees and employees from other military departments; these employees are not centrally funded.
